“Ever So Beautiful” Nov. 09′ - Priscilla Gallegos
Friday, November 13th, 2009by Marion Write
Last week, I have had the chance to interview (who I think) is one of the more premier E.S.B. features we have in from Las Vegas. One of the more successful ones out of the bunch. Priscilla Gallegos entertains us with her charm and ambitious personality to become whatever she wants to be. In this case, she is a fashion model and CSA student. For those who aren’t aware of what a CSA is, it’s a Crime Scene Analyst. Yes, you heard it right a model that investigates crime scenes, which, in most cases are gruesome. On the lighter side of things she is a very successful model who has featured in look books since 2007, walking down the catwalk and also models for ads in clothing and environmental ads alike. With no further ado, I encourage you to take your right index finger and scroll down a few slides to read the interview and view the pictures as we feature our first E.S.B. feature!
9Grand:For the folks that don’t know about you just yet, give them a brief introduction as to what you do?
Priscilla Gallegos:Hey everyone! I’m Priscilla and I am an aspiring model and full time student. I’ve been modeling for about 3 years now and love every minute of it. I am also a full time student here in Las Vegas and currently major in Forensic Science.
9G:What are you more interested in doing, fashion photoshoots or being a runway model or both?
PG:I honestly love both, but if I had the chance to walk the runway at every fashion show I would! I love the nervous and exciting feeling I get right before the shows and what girl doesn’t like to play dress up? I have had the chance to work with a lot of amazing designers and am proud because I am not the average runway model height. This just goes to show that you don’t have to be 5′10 to work it down a runway! Photoshoots are very fun as well as long as I can turn the radio on and just pose. Both include hair/mua/styling and getting pampered like that never hurts =)
9G:Do you have any major publishings so far?
PG:I have had the chance to work with Eccoci Fashions for their Spring and Fall catologs back in 2007 and 2008. I am also working with Nicky Watts for her Recycle Paper campaign that is currently being seen nationally. I am shooting this spring with a well-known fashion brand for their 2010 spring lookbook. That will be amazing!
9G:Ok so your measurements and height aren’t the normal standards for fashion and runway models, how can you overcome these disadvantages and make them advantages or do you see them as disadvantages?
PG:I do not, at all, see my measurements as a disadvantage because it can’t stop me from doing what I love to do. I have already had plenty of work being a model beyond the standard height and/or weight. Luckily models under 5′8 have been recognized more lately and I hope it continues this way because there is no reason why a woman who is 5′5 can’t rock the runway BETTER than a woman who is 5′10. Just saying.
9G:Beauty is defined in so many different ways, what do you consider as beautiful and with modeling, is inner beauty important in your opinion?
PG:Beauty is defined in so many ways but I don’t believe you have to have a flawless face and body to be the most beautiful out there. Beauty to me is confidence, honesty, strong-willed, and an all around good person. I consider beautiful as a classy, radiant person who can make anyone smile and who can light up the night without any hair and makeup. Obviously in modeling its all about looks, your face and body is what gets you paid. However, I believe inner beauty is much more important because it reveals the real you and not what people see just on the outside.
9G:So Janice Dickinson is known for coining the term supermodel, do you see yourself at celebrity status and is it a goal for you to be printed on high fashion catalogues and fashion shows?
PG:Heck yes! If the chance came along and I had the opportunity I would take it and run! That would be so amazing and I dream about this all the time. Honestly though, my one set goal is to graduate from college and continue my career in Forensic Science.
9G:So, a lot people watching this interview may know me as a rapper/MC, and in hip hop it seems like everybody are rappers right now, do you feel as if everybody/a lot of young women are attaining an interest in modeling for the wrong reasons and would you embrace them or do you feel as this type of career path is only for passionate women?
PG:I do feel that more and more women or young girls are beginning to have an interest in modeling. I can’t say that they are considering the career for the wrong reason because only they can decide on why they are doing it. However, not anyone can do the job. You have to be dedicated and passionate about it and honestly, posing in front on the camera for someone who claims to be a photographer is not modeling. A lot of hard work, money, and time is needed to just start your career in modeling.
9G:Ok we know your goals, we understand your passion for modeling, but do you have plans to use your successes in modeling to become a humanitarian, begin charities, give back to the community etc?
PG:I would love to be apart in any type of organization to help my community and charities around the world. There is so much to give back to those who really need it and the feeling of helping others is awesome. If I were to become successful in anything and could give back, I definitely would.
9G:Do you feel schooling is important for models, not schooling for models, but schooling in general. A second career path?
PG:In my opinion, most definitely. It is always a great idea to have a second career path. You obviously want to be focused and dedicated to your career but education overpowers everything. I guess it was just the way I was raised and I feel that I need to graduate college and further my knowledge in every direction.
9G:So for the folks that don’t know, you actually are in school, you currently attend CSN and are majoring in Forensic Science and would like to be a CSA (Crime Scene Analyst). What attracted you to this career field?
PG:I have been so interested in this field of work for so long. It began when I was younger and was always interested in the JonBenet Ramsey murder case. It then followed along into high school where I followed a lot of murder and missing person cases. I would sit and read every magazine or newspaper article, watch news stations and any TV show relating to the subject. I actually still do that… favorite channels would have to be A&E and Court TV!
9G:Are you ready to view deceased bodies and gruesome crimescenes, what would a person have to do to stay focused on duty in a field like this?
PG:I can say I think I am! I have yet to view an actual crime scene but am so excited for my upcoming ride-along with Metro’s CSI team! It takes a strong person inside and out to stay focused in this field. Not only mentally but emotionally as well because you become so involved with a family going through so much pain. Sadly enough, it’s a job and someone has to do it because of the crime rates going on around the world. You have to realize that crimes happen everyday and without this field of study, nothing would be solved.
9G:You ride around with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, explain to us about that, was your adrenaline running, I know this may have been exciting to you?
PG:My ride-along with Metro was so amazing! I loved every minute of it because it was something I’ve never experienced and was so interesting to me. The only time adrenealine really hit is when we went on a domestic violence call and when the office took me to the shooting range. He also told me I had the right to chose if I wanted to wear a bullet proof vest while on duty! That was pretty intense. I was so excited to see what life is really like as a police officer and what actually goes on in those cop cars. It was good to see how they work and what they do to try and keep our streets safe. My next ride-along is with the CSA’s; super excited!!
9G:Why not homocide detective or CSI? Do you see yourself maybe attributing to those fields in the future?
PG:Well in Las Vegas “CSI’s” and acutally known as “CSA’s” (Crime Scene Analyst). I would be investigating the crime scenes and it would be nothing like you see on television.. I would love to be a homocide detective one day but that takes some intensive history, experience, and knowledge. One day!!
9G:Ok, thank you so much for enlightening your fans about yourself and giving us insight on your life, for those interested in keeping up with you, where can they find you?
PG:Yes, you can find me at www.modelmayhem.com/684795 and twitter.com/so0prissy. I have myspace but its no bueno! I would love to create a website so anyone out there reading this and knows the ins and outs, contact me!!!
